Gokyo lakes and Everest Trekking in Nepal with Cho la pass:
Deep in Nepal Himalaya, in a quiet, remote Khumbu valley are the magnificent azure blue Gokyo Lakes. This string of glacial lakes is set in beautiful high-altitude wilderness dominated by the great peaks of Cho Oyu (8153m) and Gyachungkang (7922m) of Everest region of great Himalaya chain.
Gokyo lakes with Chola and Everest base camp is a fantastic trek, visiting all of the high valleys of Khumbu with extra time at Gokyo lake to explore the upper valley. Stay at the bank of Gokyo Lakes where the Khumbu range is reflected in the emerald green water below, and an optional excursion to Gokyo Ri with stunning views of Makalu and Everest may cause a slight detour.
A spectacular flight to Lukla sets the scene for the splendors to come as you make your way up Namchebazaar, the vibrant center of Sherpa life. After acclimating by spending time exploring this bustling Sherpa village, its time to trek up to Gokyo lake and Chola pass towards Everest Base Camp. We pass through Phortse Tanga and Machhermo where the mountains are more spectacular while enjoying the breathtaking beauty of Ngozumba Glacier, the largest of its kind in the Nepal Himalayas. Passing through these villages will also give you a chance to have a look at the lifestyles of high altitude dwellers. The small herding settlement of Gokyo (4,750m/15,584ft) lies on the banks of the third lake in a series of small turquoise mountain lakes and on the ridge above Gokyo, the four peaks above 8,000m (26,246ft) of Cho You, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu expose themselves. If that is not enough have a look at the tremendous ice ridge between Cho You and Gyachung (7,922m/25,991ft), considered one of the most dramatic panoramas in the Khumbu region. There are many options for additional exploration and high-altitude walking, including the crossing of Cho La, a 5,420m (17,782ft)-high pass into Khumbu and a hike to Gokyo Ri (5357m/19,216ft).
From there you will head for the Everest Base Camp trail and the rocky summit of Kalapathar (18,193'), and its unrivaled close view of Mt. Everest and its giant neighbors. After accomplishing this feat you will trek back through the main everest base camp trek trail to Lukla for a flight back to Kathmandu for some city adventures to match your trekking heights.
